The Ministry of Ayush is gearing up to celebrate the 9th Ayurveda Day on October 29, 2024, with over 150 countries participating in the event. The theme for this year's celebration, “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health,” emphasizes the potential of Ayurveda to contribute to global wellness and health challenges.

A grand event is scheduled to be held at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. Speaking about the significance of the event, Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State, Ayush (I/C), highlighted that Ayurveda Day has transformed into a global movement. He remarked, “We are proud to learn that as many as 150 countries are expected to join Ayurveda Day celebrations 2024.” The minister also highlighted the Ministry's efforts to promote Ayurveda worldwide as a holistic and innovative healthcare system.

The month-long celebrations organized by the All India Institute of Ayurveda are designed to underline the contributions of Ayurveda in addressing modern health issues. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, elaborated on this vision, noting, “Ayurveda Day focuses on integrating Ayurveda with contemporary science to address critical health issues such as non-communicable diseases, mental health, and antimicrobial resistance.” He also mentioned how digital platforms like the Ayush Grid have made Ayurveda knowledge more accessible to the public.

This year's celebrations will prominently feature participation from startups and the industry, reinforcing Ayurveda's role in global healthcare innovation. Renowned Ayurveda experts have expressed their optimism for this year’s theme. Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor to the Ministry, emphasized the role of research in establishing Ayurveda's scientific relevance, particularly for global health.

The Ministry of Ayush is also continuing initiatives to promote Ayurveda on the global stage, with projects like the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre and the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. These efforts aim to integrate Ayurveda into mainstream global healthcare.

With excitement building for Ayurveda Day 2024, this year’s celebrations promise to push the boundaries of how ancient wisdom and modern innovation can come together to offer sustainable solutions for global health.
