This collaboration brings together BBSSL’s strong cooperative network in seed production and Oryzo’s expertise in heritage rice value chains. The goal is simple: preserve India’s rich agricultural heritage while creating better income opportunities for farmers.

What this partnership will focus on:

Ensuring genetic purity and quality of traditional rice varieties
Expanding production of certified seeds
Supporting farmers with training, branding, and market access
Promoting sustainable value chains for indigenous crops

Beyond seed production, the initiative will empower farmers through workshops, field demonstrations, and better market linkages—helping them gain fair value for their produce while protecting biodiversity.

This partnership marks a strong step toward safeguarding India’s traditional rice varieties and building a more sustainable, farmer-focused seed ecosystem.
