Every year on June 21st, the world celebrates International Day of Yoga (IDY). The 8th edition of IDY will be held in India and around the world this year, with the theme "Yoga for Humanity," as announced by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat address.

From 6:40 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., the PM's address will be live-streamed on DD National and other DD Channels. A Digital Yoga Exhibition will be held in Mysuru to highlight the highlights and achievements of all previous editions of the International Day of Yoga.

The theme 'Yoga for Humanity' reflects the critical role that Yoga played in promoting physical and emotional well-being during the pandemic. Observance of IYD projects 'Brand India on the Global Stage,' while highlighting its iconic locations.

A 45-minute protocol, known as the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), has been created, and a mass demonstration has been planned.

This year, one of the major highlights of the IDY observation will be the 'Guardian Ring,' which will relay the yoga celebrations taking place around the world throughout Yoga Day. "The Guardian Ring" emphasizes the concept of "One Sun, One Earth" and symbolizes the unifying power of Yoga.

On June 21, 2015, the first International Day of Yoga was observed. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed the IDY resolution in December 2014 at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with unanimous consent.
