Bharat Darshan: A Special Train to Statue of Unity

The Indian Railways will run a special train for tourists visiting the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue in Gujarat from March 4.

The Indian Railways will run a special train for tourists visiting the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue in Gujarat from March 4. 

The tourist train run under the government's Bharat Darshan scheme will have a seven-night and eight-day tour package. The journey will cover pilgrimage sites like Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga near Indore, MP, Shirdi Sai Baba Darshan, Trimbakeshwar in Nashik, Maharashtra, and Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. 

The tour is conducted by IRCTC, Indian Railway catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. priced at Rs 7,560 per person. The package has multiple boarding and deboarding stations like Chandigarh, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Delhi Cantt, Rewari, Alwar and Jaipur.

"The package has been designed to pay tribute to the Iron Man of India, Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Statue of Unity is situated on the river island called Sadhu Bet in front of the Narmada Dam in Gujarat. It is the world's tallest statue at a height of 182 metres. Train will halt at Vadodara station and passengers will be taken to the Statue of Unity by buses," the government press release said. 

The package includes the train journey in non-AC sleeper class, accommodation, morning freshen up, road transportation, vegetarian meals, sightseeing as per itinerary ,services of tour manager and security arrangements.
