Bhumi Samvaad VII: Land Governance in North Eastern States- ‘Digitization Solutions for Tomorrow’ to be Held on November 24

The Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, is set to host the Bhumi Samvaad VII on November 24, 2023, at Vigyan Bhawan Annexe, New Delhi. This review meeting will bring together representatives from North Eastern States and Autonomous Hills District Councils (ADCs) to assess the progress made under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) and discuss various initiatives and issues.

Chaired by Ajay Tirkey, Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, this conference marks the seventh installment of the Bhumi Samvaad series, focused on fostering dialogues and deliberations on land administration and governance in the country. The conference is expected to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, showcase innovations, and provide a platform for discussing successful case studies.

The primary focus of the Bhumi Samvaad VII will be the review of DILRMP and other initiatives in the North-Eastern States and ADCs. Special attention will be given to digitization solutions tailored for the unique challenges faced by the North Eastern States. The conference will also feature presentations on the Action Plans of ADCs for the implementation of DILRMP in their respective regions.

Key components of the Action Plans to be discussed include year-wise targets, both physical and financial, and progress updates on all elements. Additionally, the conference will address crucial aspects such as the availability and deployment of human resources, capacity building, and timelines for the completion of the proposed plans.

Participating in the conference will be senior officials from State Revenue/Registration Departments and Inspector Generals of Registration from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim. The Chief Executive Officers of ADCs, Secretaries to Executive Committees, and Executive Secretaries from ADCs will also be in attendance.

The event will witness the involvement of esteemed institutions and organizations such as the B.N. Yugandhar Centre for Rural Studies of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration Mussoorie (LBSNAA), the Surveyor General of India, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, and the North East Council, Shillong, Meghalaya.

This conference underscores the commitment of the government to leverage digital solutions for effective land records management and sustainable development in the North-Eastern region.
