BJP Chief JP Nadda Turns 62: PM Modi, Other Leaders Extends Birthday Wishes

On his 62nd birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda while praising his leadership on microblogging site Twitter on Friday

On his 62nd birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda while praising his leadership on microblogging site Twitter on Friday. With his leadership abilities, Nadda has given the BJP a fresh vigour and vitality, Modi added while wishing him well.

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari also wished the latter via his official Twitter handle. "A very grateful birthday to National President of Bharatiya Janata Party @JPNadda. May god bless you with a long and healthy life", he wrote.

Union Home Minister and former party chief Amit Shah also took to social media to wish Nadda as he wrote in Hindi, "Happy birthday to @JPNadda. The party is continuously getting stronger due to your efficient leadership and organizational skills. I pray to God for your healthy life and long life."

 

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar shared a pic of himself with Nadda while penning caption, "Hearty birthday greetings and best wishes to JP Nadda, wishing you for a long and healthy life."

 

About JP Nadda

Nadda is one of the most influential leaders of BJP in Himachal Pradesh. In 1975, he began his political career as a member of the JP movement, and joined BJP's student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) around the same time. After that, he ran for student union president in his college's elections in 1977, won, and was appointed secretary of Patna University.

Later, he ran for and won the Himachal Pradesh University student union elections during his further studies. In 1991, BJP named Nadda the national general secretary of the All India Janata Yuva Morcha. Following this, JP Nadda ran for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly seat of Bilaspur in 1993 and won. He was subsequently chosen to lead the opposition in the state assembly.

In his political career, Nadda has been the election in-charge of many states for his party including Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Kerala, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.

Nadda was elected the National President of BJP in January 2020 for a tenure of three years. While Nadda's term will end in January next year, reports have it that his tenure may be extended by the party high command in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
