Brazil's Embrapa, Corteva Sign Agreement to Research on Agriculture Sustainability

Embrapa’s top priorities are to increase Brazil’s Agricultural Sustainability and to enhance the livelihoods and competitiveness of its farmers. Genomics and advanced digital tools are two of the most powerful strategies to do that. That´s why Embrapa is  very excited about the agreement signed,” opined  Mauricio A. Lopes, President of Embrapa.

Embrapa is the research arm of Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply. Brazils’ Embrapa and Agriculture Division of DowDuPoint, Corteva Agriscience, have signed an agreement to conduct leading-edge research to increase agriculture sustainability which will focus on genomics to improve the pest and drought tolerance of crops.

The four-year agreement was signed under a larger program titled “The Agriculture Sector in the Era of Bioeconomy,” and will help enhance the post-harvest quality of agricultural products and minimize the environmental impact of farming.

Corteva Agriscience will provide digital tools and technology for research to Embrapa. These digital tools and technology will be used to improve forecasting and modelling capabilities for early detection of diseases.
