BREAKING NEWS: ISIS-linked group planning attacks in Delhi, North India arrested

A terror group inspired by the ISIS, planning suicide attacks on important installations and VIPs, has been detected, informed officials in Delhi today. 10 people have been detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) while 6 others have been arrested following searches in various locations in the national capital and adjoining Uttar Pradesh.

A terror group inspired by the ISIS, planning suicide attacks on important installations and VIPs, has been detected, informed officials in Delhi today. 10 people have been detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) while 6 others have been arrested following searches in various locations in the national capital and adjoining Uttar Pradesh.

Officials told the group was planning suicide attacks in northern India, especially New Delhi. And their target list included important installations, crowded places and VIPs.

A civil engineer, an undergraduate student, a maulvi and an auto driver are involved in this. Officials said the maulvi was the head of the group, who was receiving instructions from a handler based overseas. 

Officials while acknowledging that the investigation is at a ‘very initial stage’ told the group call itself ‘Harkat ul Harb e Islam’ and one amongst the arrested is their leader. Moreover 5 of them are from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district.

Numerous searches were conducted in several parts of Delhi as well as Uttar Pradesh by the NIA team since today morning regarding the investigation into a new ISIS unit.

Around 16 places in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were searched. The searches yielded a nation-made rocket launcher. Moreover, 12 pistols along with 112 alarm clocks were found that were to be used for making bombs, informed officials. They further said that 150 rounds of ammunition were also found.
