Budget 2023: PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana' Expenditure to be Borne by Center

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while making Budget 2023 announcements, said that Rs 2 lakh crore for the entire year will be borne by the central government under 'PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana'. This scheme is aimed at supplying free food grains for one year to all Antyodaya and priority households, FM said. "We're initiating a program to provide free food grain to all Antyodaya and priority households for one year under the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana on January 1, 2023, as part of our ongoing commitment to food security," said Nirmala Sitharaman.

According to Financial Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the PM Awaas Yojana budget has increased by 66% to more than Rs 79,000 crores. Outlay under the PM Awaas Yojana increased by 66% to more than Rs 79,000 crore.

Sitharamn also revealed that PM Garib Kalyan Yojana helped over 80 crore people get free food grains for 28 months during the Covid-19 pandemic. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget of India 2023 on the floor of the Parliament at 11 am today. The Union Budget of India 2023 is Modi govt 2.0’s last budget announcement. Joining a league of legends such as Manmohan Singh, Arun Jaitley, and P Chidambaram, Nirmala Sitharaman is the sixth minister in independent India to present five consecutive budgets.
