Campco Launches 'Spice Toffee' with Pepper and Ginger as Key Ingredients

The Central Arecanut & Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (Campco) on Wednesday (20 November 2019) launched 'Spice Toffee' with black pepper powder & ginger extracts as its main ingredients. S R Satishchandra, Campco President released the new product.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of Campco, Suresh Bhandary said that the ‘Spice Toffee’ is made from sugar-based syrups infused with natural black pepper powder & ginger extracts.

Bhandary explained that “The toffee is a first-of-its-kind product in the organized sector. Only natural products have been used in the manufacture of the toffee and there is no artificial flavors. The extracts of ginger, pepper powder & glucose in ‘Spice Toffee’ are helpful for body balance and relief from tiredness. In addition, it acts as a body-cooling agent & a mouth freshener. It decreases thirst when consumed”. The best thing is that the price of a toffee is just Rs 1.

He added that in the 1st phase, Campco will market around 12 tonnes of this product all over the country.

Bhandary said ‘Spice Toffee’ will be reintroduced soon by replacing sugar with traditional jaggery. Research & development work is going on at Campco’s chocolate factory at Puttur, Dakshina Kannada to make this toffee with jaggery in place of sugar-based syrups. He also said that the jaggery-based ‘Spice Toffee’ will bring more traditional touch to this product.

SR Satishchandra told that Campco has used original pepper powder for making this ‘Spice Toffee’. Some of those available in the unorganised market utilize pepper flavour for such a product.

The cooperative also released a television commercial with the theme - ‘For every first in life’. The TV commercial, which is launched in 6 languages has been conceptualized by ‘Heavy Digitals’. It exhibits Campco chocolates as an award or accolade for one’s achievement, be it in the arena of music, love, sports, or self-discovery.

Satishchandra further said, “Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, confidence and courage in the doing. Since its inception, Campco has been facing turbulent situations but yet comes out strongly with self-confidence & has gone on to attain great heights”.
