CII Foodpro 2022 Begins Today

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be organizing the 14th edition of Foodpro, India's biennial exhibition on food processing, packaging, and technology, in Chennai from August 5 to 7. Thiru M R K Panneerselvam, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Thiru R Sakkarapani, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Tamil Nadu will be the Chief Guests at the Inaugural Session of Foodpro 2022 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. 

The current edition of Foodpro 2022 is supported by the Ministry of Food Processing & Industries – MoFPI. The Government of Tamil Nadu is the ‘Host State’ for Foodpro 2022.

Coinciding with Foodpro 2022, Four concurrent shows such as Cold Store India, Traditional Food, Food Packaging Expo & Food Expo would be held concurrently during the Foodpro 2022.

Other Key Speakers at the Inaugural session includes C Samayamoorthy, IAS, Agricultural Production Commissioner & Secretary to GoTN; Suchitra K Ella, Chairperson, CII Southern Region & Co-Founder and JMD, Bharat Biotech International; B Thiagarajan, Chairman Foodpro 2022 & Managing Director, Blue Star Limited; Satyakam Arya, Chairman CII Tamil Nadu State Council & Managing Director & CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles among others.

The 3-day event, one of the city's largest food processing expos, will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam and will feature more than 250 exhibitors from the food processing industry from across the country and abroad.

While bananas and millet will have special pavilion status at the expo this year, the event will highlight a wide range of opportunities, technologies, and solutions for the food processing and allied industries. There will also be sectoral conferences, business-to-business meetings, product launches, and presentations.

B Thiagarajan, chairman of CII Foodpro 2022, told reporters at a virtual press conference on Monday that India's food processing industry is just getting started.

"It has the potential to employ far more people than the IT and traditional manufacturing industries." Furthermore, it is recession-proof because food consumption will not fall as a result of the recession," he said. "We are viewed as a country capable of stepping up and ensuring global food safety," he added.
