Nano-fertilizers benefit nutrition management by having the potential to boost nutrient use efficiency. Nutrients, either applied alone or in mixture, are bound to nano-dimensional adsorbents, which produces and distributes very slowly as compared to conventional fertilizers.

Extensive field studies on product efficacy, biosafety, and toxicity in various agro-climatic zones are being conducted in collaboration with leading agricultural universities, with encouraging trial results. The company stated that its application to the Centre for the commercial release of Nano DAP is nearing completion.

Coromandel has applied for a patent on the product and is building a new facility in Andhra Pradesh. According to the company, "the product will be available in 2023. Coromandel is promoting new technologies to improve the resource utilization efficiency of its Agri solutions."

"Nano DAP will contribute significantly to the sustainability of Indian farms by improving nutrient uptake, lowering water consumption, and reducing environmental losses," said executive vice chairman Arun Alagappan. He believes that using Nano DAP will improve farm economics and drive sustainable usage and site-specific nutrient applications.

In the face of rapidly deteriorating malnutrition, with India ranking 107th out of 121 countries, Nano DAP boosts nutrient uptake. The fertilizer is also a significant step towards more sustainable agriculture.

Agritech is also expected to benefit this year, with the announcement of an accelerator fund focused on startups in the sector as part of Budget 2023. Coromandel also praised the government's regulatory and policy support, noting that the company hopes to launch Nano DAP this year.
