IMD Issues Yellow Alert; Temperature Could Reach 44 Degrees

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a yellow alert for a severe heatwave in Delhi, with temperatures expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius by Wednesday.

According to meteorological experts, the heatwave could last till May 15, since a cooling weather system is unlikely to influence northwestern regions of India in the upcoming week.

The increase in humidity levels can cause discomfort, according to Mahesh Palawat, Vice President (Meteorology and Climate Change), Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency. Though temperatures will not rise dramatically in most parts of Delhi due to easterly winds prevailing in the region due to the impact of Cyclone Asani over the Bay of Bengal,
