Following a spell of light to moderate rains yesterday evening, Delhi residents woke up to a brighter day. Today's weather forecast indicates a comparatively pleasant day ahead, with temperatures ranging from a high of 30°C to a low of 16°C with the forecast of clear sky throughout the day.

The rainfall experienced last evening brought a sense of relief to Delhiites who have been enduring warmer temperatures in recent days. The cool breeze accompanying the rain has refreshed the city, offering respite from the heat. Rainfall Forecast for East India: Kolkata, Odisha, and Jharkhand Prepare for Wet Spells

Parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to see light rainfall today, tomorrow, and the day after. Additionally, areas in and around Kolkata, including Alipur, Dum Dum, Howrah, and Salt Lake, could experience moderate thundershowers starting today.

IMD's Alerts and Precipitation Patterns: Monitoring Weather Systems Across India

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow watch for Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha on select days due to anticipated weather conditions. Notably, Jharkhand is expected to receive 10.2 mm of precipitation, while other East Indian states continue to experience below-average rainfall this month.

Between March 1 and 12, West Bengal accumulated only 4.8 mm of rainfall, significantly below its normal levels, while Odisha gathered 3.9 mm, similarly below its typical precipitation levels. This deficit in rainfall raises concerns about water scarcity and agricultural productivity in these regions, highlighting the importance of effective water management and conservation efforts.

The IMD is closely monitoring weather systems across the country. A Western Disturbance, along with other troughs and cyclonic circulations, is influencing weather patterns over various regions, leading to predictions of rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in several parts of the country from March 13 to 19.

In regions like Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, where thunderstorms with lightning and hailstorms are expected, precautions are advised to minimize property damage and ensure safety. Measures include staying indoors, avoiding travel, seeking safe shelters, and taking precautions against lightning strikes and strong winds.
