Delhi On High-Alert As Dengue Cases Rise

As the Diwali season approaches, the mosquito-borne viral disease dengue is again causing apprehension among the people of the country. 

Reportedly the states of Delhi and West Bengal are witnessing an alarming increase in the cases of dengue.

Following several days of intense rain in the capital, there has been an increase in dengue cases in the city. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) reported that 281 cases have been registered up until September 21 in only this month alone. According to sources, more than 130 people have received a dengue diagnosis, bringing the city’s total for cases of the vector-borne disease this year to over 500.

West Bengal also continued to see an increase in dengue cases as the state saw 840 new illnesses, according to health department authorities. According to them, most of the instances have been reported in the districts of North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas, Jalpaiguri, and Darjeeling.

As Dengue cases continue to rise in West Bengal and Delhi, doctors and health officials have urged people to stay cautious and take preventions like using mosquito repellent creams, wearing full-sleeved clothing, and using mosquito nets at home.
