Delhi’s ‘Rozgaar Budget’ 2022: 25,000 Jobs will be created for Women under the 'Smart Urban Farming' Initiative

Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Delhi, submitted a budget of Rs 75,800 crores for the fiscal year 2022-23 on Saturday. This is the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s seventh budget in a row. According to Sisodia, the present 'Rozgar' budget is two and a half times more than the 2014-15 budget of 30,940 crores.

This year's budget, dubbed the 'Rozgar (employment) budget,' aims to create 20 lakh jobs in the city over the next five years, according to Sisodia. He said, "We have a target of expanding the working population in Delhi by creating 20 lakh jobs in the retail sector, food & beverage, logistics, travel and tourism, real estate & green energy".

In addition, Sisodia stated that in the post-Covid period, the 'Delhi Rozgar Portal' created 1.78 lakh government jobs and nearly 10 lakh private jobs.

According to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister, his government expects to create 3 lakh jobs in the retail industry over the next five years and over 1.20 lakh new jobs in the coming year.

Delhi Budget 2022: Major Highlights

• The Delhi Finance Minister stated Rs. 250 Crore has been set aside for the city's shopping extravaganza.

• 25,000 jobs will be created for women under the 'Smart Urban Farming' initiative.

• Delhi government has launched an ambitious plan to revive over 600 lakes and water bodies of Delhi with an estimated outlay of Rs 750 crore, to make Delhi’s water bodies free of encroachment, that has been neglected for decades and have converted them into dumpyards.

• In 2022 Delhi Budget Rs 9,669 Cr has been allocated for the health sector, Rs 475 Cr for mohalla clinics and polyclinics, Rs 1,900 Cr to upgrade Delhi govt hospitals. Rs 1,300 Cr allocated for drains, streets, water supply in unauthorized colonies.

• Rs 16,278 crore for the education sector, a part of which will go to building boarding schools for homeless children and a Science Museum in a city school.

• Delhi government has proposed an outlay of Rs 3250 Crore for electricity subsidy in the budget for the year 2022-23. The Government is committed to strengthening the road infrastructure in the city. "This year we propose a budget of Rs 266 crore for the Environment & Forest Sector for the financial year 2022-23," said Sisodia.
