Delhi University Launches Financial Support Scheme for Students

Such financial support interventions are commendable in order to achieve the high-quality and egalitarian education system required for India's future economic, social, cultural, and intellectual progress & growth.

According to the National Education Commission, also known as the Kothari Commission, higher education should have received at least 2% of GDP. In light of this, the NEP urged the federal and state governments to increase public investment to at least 6% of GDP.

Delhi University has launched Financial Support Scheme for financially weak students.  Students interested in participating in this scheme can obtain the application form and notification by clicking on the link below. The deadline for applying for this scheme is December 12, 2022.

In keeping with the Government's motto "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas," the scheme includes a fee waiver for economically disadvantaged students.

According to the notice issued by the varsity on its official Twitter handle, the fee waiver includes all components of the fee paid by students except examination fee and hostel fee.

Understanding the need for affirmative action as mandated by the Indian constitution, and in order to extend the benefits of equity, access, and quality with excellence, both in letter and spirit, to financially disadvantaged students, the University proposes to launch a financial assistance scheme," the university announced.

Candidates studying at the University of Delhi in its departments or institutions who fall into one of two categories: those with a family income of less than 4 lakh and those with a family income of 4 lakh to 8 lakh. The varsity will waive all fees for the first category, and fees for the second category will be waived up to 50%.

Annual family income certificate, copies of ITR of parents, copies of marksheets of the last exam passed, copy of bona fide student in Degree/ Postgraduate degree course, fee receipt mentioning the amount under different heads separately, bank passbook are the documents required.
