Divya Kala Mela 2024 Showcases Vibrant Artisans, Eco-Friendly Products, Packaged Food, and More!

The Department has ambitious plans to further the cause of Shashaktikaran (empowerment) for Divyang individuals, with the 'Divya Kala Mela' being a beacon of inclusivity across the nation.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, is set to kick off the Divya Kala Mela, a unique event highlighting the talents and craftsmanship of Divyang entrepreneurs and artisans from all corners of the country. The event, organized by the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC), will take place from January 12th to January 21st, 2024, at Ground-3 Reshimbagh, Nagpur.

Inauguration by Distinguished Guests

The inauguration of the Divya Kala Mela in Nagpur took place today, graced by esteemed personalities including Omprakash (Bachchu Kadu), MLA & Chairman Divyang Kalyan State Level Committee, Maharashtra. Other dignitaries present at the event included Suraj Singh Thakur, Senior Leader BJP Maharashtra, Krishan Khopade, MLA Nagpur, Mohan Mate MLA BJP Dakshin Nagpur, Naveen Shah, IFS, CMD, NDFDC, Dr Siddharth Gaikwad, Regional Dy. Commissioner for Divyangjan, Nagpur, officials of NDFDC, officials of CRC-Nagpur, officials from Saksham Nagpur, officials from Social Welfare Deptt Nagpur, Speech & Hearing students of schools in Nagpur, prominent NGOs working for Divyangjan, and other dignitaries.

A Melange of Diverse Products

The 10-day long Divya Kala Mela promises to be a treat for visitors, featuring vibrant products from various regions, including Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states. Over 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from approximately 20 states and Union Territories will showcase their diverse skills and products in Nagpur. The product categories on display encompass Home Décor and lifestyle, Clothing, Stationery and eco-friendly products, packaged food and organic products, Toys and gifts, and Personal Accessories like Jewellery, Clutch Bags, and Paintings. This event serves as an excellent opportunity for everyone to endorse the 'vocal for local' movement by supporting products crafted by determined Divyang craftsmen.

Cultural Extravaganza and Gastronomic Delights

Running from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, the Divya Kala Mela will not only feature a myriad of products but also host a series of cultural activities. Visitors can revel in performances by Divyangjan artists and well-known professionals. Additionally, attendees can savor culinary delights from various regions of the country, adding a gastronomic experience to the event.

National Endeavor for Empowerment

This initiative by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is a significant step towards the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) or Divyangjan. The Divya Kala Mela acts as a substantial platform for marketing and showcasing the talents and products of Divyangjan.

Nagpur's edition marks the 13th in the series that commenced in 2022, with previous editions held in prominent cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Varanasi, Secunderabad (Hyderabad), Bengaluru, Chennai, Patna, Surat, and now, Nagpur.
