Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) Visited ICAR- NBSS & LUP, Regional Centre, Kolkata

Dr Himanshu Pathak interacted with staff of regional centre and encouraged people to use modern tools and techniques for efficient soil survey and land resource inventory.

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), paid a visit to the National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning's Regional Centre in Kolkata on May 4, 2024. While speaking with the Centre's personnel, he underlined the importance of innovative technologies and procedures for effective soil survey and land resource assessment.

Dr. Pathak also advocated for the use of real-time land use planning models through a number of collaboration programs. He accentuated brainstorming sessions among ICAR institutes for collaborative projects on environmental degradation monitoring and climate change impacts.

Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head, ICAR- NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Kolkata, briefed the achievements of the Regional Centre for the last two years highlighting the Centre’s externally generated substantial funds.

Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Barrackpore, Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, scientists and staff of ICAR-NBSS&LUP, RC Kolkata, scientists of ICAR-CRIJAF and other ICAR institutes situated at Kolkata were present in the programme.
