E-Flow Monitoring System Launched to Ensure Continuous and Sustainable Flow of Ganga River
C.R. Paatil's review underscores a renewed commitment to advancing the Namami Gange Mission's objectives, ensuring sustainable management & rejuvenation of Ganga River.
Union Jal Shakti Minister, C.R. Paatil, commenced his tenure by overseeing the advancements of the Namami Gange Mission projects in New Delhi on June 13, 2024. This critical review session witnessed the presence of Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, alongside senior officials including Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary (Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation), and Rajeev Kumar Mital, Director General of NMCG.
Launch of E-flow Monitoring System Enhances Project Oversight
During the session, the focal point was the inauguration of the Environmental flows (E-flows) Monitoring System under the Aviral Ganga initiative. Integrated into the PRAYAG Portal, this system enables real-time monitoring of project planning, river water quality, and other vital parameters. Notably, the PRAYAG Portal incorporates essential dashboards like the Ganga Tarang Portal, Project Management Tool Dashboard, and the Ganga Districts Performance Monitoring System.

Minister Paatil highlighted the significance of the E-flow Monitoring System, underscoring its role in ensuring continuous and sustainable water flow in the Ganga River. By leveraging data from the Central Water Commission's quarterly reports, the system tracks crucial metrics such as in-flow, out-flow, and mandated E-flow across 11 projects along the Ganga Main Stream. This initiative aims to improve the monitoring of Namami Gange program activities nationwide.
Commitment to Timely Completion and Innovation
Expressing his commitment to the timely completion of ongoing projects, Minister Paatil stressed innovative solutions to tackle emerging challenges. He highlighted the imperative of developing new strategies for regions lacking river rejuvenation programs, underscoring his vision for a cleaner and revitalized River Ganga.
The Minister also conducted a comprehensive review of cleaning projects integral to the Namami Gange Program. This initiative aims to preserve the uninterrupted flow and cleanliness of the River Ganga, ensuring its ecological and cultural significance are safeguarded.
