Envisaging pro-active steps for agri sector

Coimbatore: State Agriculture and AnimalHusbandry Minister R Doraikkannu has announced the government’s plan to distribute Rs 100.42 crore to 2000 farmers producers group under the integrated cooperative farming scheme this year at CODISSIA Agri intex 2018 platform.During 2017-18 the state government disbursed 98.4 crore to 1,985 farmers groups.

Coimbatore: State Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister R Doraikkannu has announced the government’s plan to distribute Rs 100.42 crore to 2000 farmers producers group under the integrated cooperative farming scheme this year at CODISSIA Agri intex 2018 platform.During 2017-18 the state government disbursed 98.4 crore to 1,985 farmers groups.

In 2017-18, subsidy worth Rs.38.60 crore was given to farmers to buy 6,034 equipment. In 2018-2019, it has been increased to Rs.144 crore, he added.

CODISSIA

The government has launched a roof-top gardening scheme to help urban dwellers grow their own vegetables and through the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna the state has facilitated insurance coverage to the tune of Rs.3,450 crore to farmers in Tamil Nadu. It is the highest among the states.

The Agri Intex 2018 showcases several tools and technologies for farming. About 1.5 lakh farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka are expected to visit the four-day exhibition that will conclude on Monday.
