EPFO: Haven’t Received Your UAN Number Yet? Follow These Steps to Generate Universal Number Online

The Employees Provident Fund Organization provides its provident fund account holders a 12-digit code known as the Universal Account Number. UAN does not change when employees switch jobs between organizations, contrary to EPF account number and member ID.

If a company has twenty employees or more, the employer is required to generate a UAN number for each employee. Employee must give their UAN to the employer when they join a new organization.

With the use of UAN, EPFO members can manage their provident fund accounts and perform tasks like checking their EPF balance, applying for PF loans, and requesting withdrawals online without the need for paper-based documentation.

Normally, the UAN is printed on the payslip, but if the company hasn't given you the 12-digit code, you can generate it online.

The employee must present identity proof, residence proof, bank account information, the Permanent Account Number (PAN), Aadhaar, and the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Card in order to create their UAN while joining up with the EPFO for the first time.

Step-by-step guide on how to generate UAN online:

• Select the "Activate UAN" link located in the important links section.

• Select the Aadhaar option and give the necessary information to continue.

• Click the button titled "Get Authorization Pin."

• Your browser will send you to a new page with the data you entered. Verify the information to ensure correctness.

• To proceed, select the Agree checkbox.

• To validate your request, enter the OTP that was sent to your phone.

• Click on Activate UAN and Validate OTP.

Your UAN number and password will be sent to the registered mobile number via text message after the submission is done.

View your EPF account details by logging in to your EPFO with the provided information. The employee can use their UAN and account on the EPFO portal to invest in government investment schemes.
