The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, EPFO invests funds according to the Investment Pattern specified by the Government. As of March 31, 2022, the total amount managed by EPFO across different funds was Rs 18.30 lakh crore, and it was invested in the following manner:

In the fiscal year 2022-23, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allocated Rs 53,081 crores to ETFs, while in the preceding year, 2021-22, the investment stood at Rs 43,568 crores, and in the fiscal year 2020-21, it amounted to Rs 32,071 crores. Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Rameswar Teli, provided this information in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.
EPFO does not directly invest in individual stocks, including those of prominent companies. Instead, EPFO channels its investments into the equity market through ETFs that replicate the BSE-SENSEX and NIFTY-50 indices. Additionally, EPFO has occasionally invested in ETFs specifically designed for the divestment of the Government of India's ownership in various corporate entities.
