Isn’t it amazing to turn your thoughts into words without typing!!!!

Social media giant Facebook has announced its biggest plan to develop a brain-computer interface (BCI) during its developer conference in 2017, where you can type just by thinking.

Researchers from the University of California and San Francisco (UCSF) working under this program have found that noting their algorithm was able to detect spoken words from brain activity in real-time.

As reported in the research, the team connected high-density electrocorticography (ECoG) arrays to three epilepsy patients’ brains to record brain activity. Then it asked these patients simple questions and asked them to answer aloud.

Researchers said the algorithm recorded the brain activity while patients spoke. They noted the model decoded these words with accuracy as high as 76 percent.

Facebook is also planning the bill for a new, year-long study that UCSF is currently conducting where it will try to use brain activity to help a person who can't speak communicate.

The social network hopes the efforts could help reveal which brain signals are key for that non-invasive wearable that it's planning for in the years ahead.

"We expect that to take upwards of 10 years," Mark Chevillet, a research director at Facebook Reality Labs who runs its brain-computer interface group, told CNN Business of the overall project. "This is a long-term research program."

The company portrayed a vivid picture of a mysterious, noninvasive device that would pick up on your brain signals and one day enable you to type 100 words per minute which were revealed at  Facebook's 2017 developer conference, F8.
