Farmers celebrate as MSP rises upto Rs. 200
The central government has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat by Rs 110 a kg. Now the government procurement of wheat will be at Rs 1735. In the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minimum support price for Rabi crops was approved for the year 2017-18. MSP is the rate on which the government buys grain from the farmers.

According to the information, Rs. 110 is the MSP of Wheat and MSP of Chana and Masur has been increased by Rs. 200 per quintal. Now the minimum support price of gram has gone up to 4200 rupees and lentil has been increased to 4150 rupees. The support price of wheat last year was Rs 1625 per quintal. Wheat is the main crop of Rabi and its sowing will start this month. The time of harvesting takes place around April next year. For a long time, farmers have been demanding to increase the minimum support price for crops.
