Farmer's Day 2020: Defense Minister says, Government is talking to Farmers and Protest will end soon

On the occasion of Farmers' Day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Center is talking with the agitating farmers with full sensitivity. At the same time, the Defense Minister expressed the hope that this movement will soon come to an end. The agitation of farmers against the change in agricultural laws continues on Wednesday.  

The Union Minister tweeted and said, “Today on the occasion of Farmers Day, I greet all the contributors of the country. He provided food security to the country.” 

He added that some farmers have agitated for agricultural laws. The government is talking to them with full sensitivity and hopes that soon they will withdraw their movement.  

He said, “In a series of tweets, the Defense Minister remembered former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary. He further said, 'Chaudhary Charan Singh wanted that the income of the farmers of the country should be increased, they should get a fair price for their crops and the honour of the farmers should be protected. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken inspiration from them and has also taken many steps in the interest of farmers. They do not want to disturb the farmers under any circumstances.” 

Farmers Day is celebrated every year on 23 December. It is noteworthy that from Monday, farmers started a 24-hour long hunger strike. Under this, 11 farmers will go on a hunger strike every day.  

To express support to farmers on Farmers Day, the leader of the Indian Farmers Union, Rakesh Tikait, appealed to the people to give up food. Even after several rounds of talks with the government were cancelled, the farmers' movement continues on the borders of Delhi NCR. This movement has been going on since 26 November.
