Fish Agri- Food System for the Period 2018-19

There are three interlinked challenges of sustainable aquaculture, sustainable small scale fisheries, and enhancing the contribution of fish to nutrition and health of the poor in priority geographies of Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Under this work plan Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) and International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM) also known as the World Fish of the CGIAR signed a collaborative work plan. Both parties have mutually agreed to promote and accelerate collaborative efforts for fisheries and aquaculture research and development.

Both parties have mutually agreed to promote and accelerate collaborative efforts for fisheries and aquaculture research and development.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) and Dr. Gareth Johanstone, Director General, International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM) also known as the World Fish of the CGIAR signed a collaborative work plan on fish agri-food system for the period 2018-19.

This work plan emanated out of the existing MoU between these two organizations signed in 1996. Under this work plan both parties have mutually agreed to promote and accelerate collaborative efforts for fisheries and aquaculture research and development.

By addressing the three interlinked challenges of sustainable aquaculture, sustainable small scale fisheries, and enhancing the contribution of fish to nutrition and health of the poor in priority geographies of Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

The commitment took place in the presence of Dr. Chadag Vishnumurthy Mohan, Senior Scientist – Aquaculture Sustainable Aquaculture, World Fish, Dr. Joy Krushna Jena, DDG (Fy Sci); Dr. P Pravin, ADG (Marine Fy); Dr. Sudhir Raizada, ADG (Inland Fy); Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Kolkata; Dr. S.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Dr. Ravishankar CN, Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin and other senior officials from DARE and ICAR.
