Flipkart Join Hands with Vishal Mega Mart to Deliver Groceries and Other Essential Items
India’s prominent e-commerce marketplace Flipkart owned by Walmart has partnered with the retail store chain Vishal Mega Mart for home delivery of essential items in 26 cities in the country which includes top cities like New Delhi and Bengaluru.

Flipkart already has a similar partnership with another retail store chain called Spencer Retail.
“Under the partnership, consumers can now order products from 365 Vishal Mega Mart stores and get them delivered directly to their doorsteps by Flipkart” according to a press release.
As per the partnership a Vishal Mega Mart store has been created on Flipkart platform. This virtual store offers a wide range of products like rice, oil, pulses, wheat, and other essential items, consumers can order using Flipkart App or Website. Vishal Mart’s own-label products will also be made available for the consumers.
Products will be available as per the guidelines of Government across all zones. Once the consumer order items on the App, the delivery executives or Wishmasters will pick up the products from nearest Vishal Mart and deliver it to the consumer’s doorstep” the press release added.
In the wake of Nationwide lockdown which started on March 25, people started using e-commerce platforms to order daily essential products and groceries. Mainly to avoid contact with a large group of people near markets and local grocery shops to practice social distancing.
In the first two phases of the lockdown, e-commerce platforms were allowed to sell mainly essential items like groceries and health care products. Later in the third phase of the lockdown, all items were allowed to sell in orange and yellow zones, but only essential items in the red zone. From May 18, all e-commerce platforms are allowed to resume operations to sell at full-size except in containment zones.
At first consumers from 26cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi-NCR, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Guwahati, and Bareily can avail these services. In the coming four weeks operations will be scaled to over 240 cities across the country. Kalyan Krishnamurthy

As part of this, our ability to work with the modern retail stores across Indian cities will give our consumers access to products while enabling doorstep delivery of groceries and essentials”.
Flipkart in April, partnered with Hyderabad’s famous retail chain Spencers to run a pilot program for hyperlocal delivery of groceries and other essential products in the city.
Gunender Kapur, CEO, and MD, Vishal Mega Mart, commenting on the new partnership with Flipkart said, “In these unprecedented times, we are ensuring to reach our customers with required essential items through all channels available. We are excited to work with Flipkart, now our customers can visit our over 365 stores to order essentials easily on Flipkart and have them delivered at their doorsteps”.
