The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a partly cloudy sky over Delhi with a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius. Residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, providing some relief from the scorching heat.

Weather Systems Across India: Rainfall and Thunderstorms Expected

IMD reports indicate various weather systems affecting different regions across India. A cyclonic circulation over central parts of Madhya Maharashtra and a trough extending from north Gujarat to south Tamil Nadu are likely to bring scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over several states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Telangana, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, hailstorm activity is expected in isolated areas of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Western Disturbance to Impact Northwest India: Rainfall and Snowfall Anticipated

A Western Disturbance in the middle tropospheric westerlies is anticipated to affect Northwest India, particularly Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, bringing isolated to widespread rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Scattered rainfall with thunderstorms is also predicted over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Isolated heavy rainfall and snowfall are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may experience isolated hailstorms. Furthermore, duststorms and thundersqualls are expected over Rajasthan.

Temperature Trends and Warnings: Rise in Maximum Temperatures Expected

IMD's observations highlight above-normal maximum temperatures in several regions, with some areas experiencing temperatures exceeding the 98th percentile. Gradual increases in maximum temperatures are anticipated in East India, while Maharashtra and south peninsular India are expected to see no significant changes initially followed by a gradual fall.

Heat wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Saurashtra and Kutch and North Interior Karnataka, while hot and humid weather is expected in various southern regions including Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, as well as Rayalaseema.
