From Research on Tea Compounds to Establishing Mining Department & Trainings to Students, Check what’s New at IIT Guwahati?

Assam government has planned to establish a mining department at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in collaboration with the institute.

IIT Guwahati is set to boost the research on the application of tea compounds in many fields, such as medicine, health, and wellness. With the help of state officials, efforts will be made to raise awareness of the value of various varieties of tea and their nutritious contents and health benefits.

In addition, the Assam government has planned to establish a mining department at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in collaboration with the institute. The effort is supposed to aid in the education of young people. It also seeks to include seasoned professionals in finding ways and means to utilize the enormous natural resources scattered over Assam and the northeast through research and technical advice.

"Today, officials from several ministries of the Assam government met at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati to plan the future course of action and collaborate in many disciplines relating to the development of the region," the institute said.

The participation of IIT Guwahati in organizing the international road safety conclave will begin immediately, and efforts to improve road safety across the area will be enhanced in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Government of Assam.

To establish Assam Skill University, the government of Assam has sought IIT Guwahati's collaboration and assistance. A research and development center is intended to be accommodated in numerous aspects to take after inland water transportation under the authority of the engineering department (marine engine design, designing of vessels, and its repairing and servicing hub).

"As per the state government's request, IIT Guwahati will be delighted to contribute mainly in the field of exploration of mineral deposits and mines, commerce and entrepreneurial development, participation of drones in various sectors, transport industry - inland water transport, water buses, road safety, factors relevant to skill development in numerous upcoming sectors, and creating various centers of excellence & state of the art laboratories at the institute," the institute said.
