Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, V K Saxena, and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, P K Mishra, were among the high-ranking government officials who toured significant locations connected to the forthcoming G20 Summit. Their objective was to assess the state of readiness for this massive event.

G20 Summit 2023 Preparations Underway In Delhi For This Grand Occasion

Delhi has beautified its streets with around 675,000 flowering pots and greenery, while also improving designated venues to host important delegations. This enhancement has extended to key locations like Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Dhaula Kuan-IGI Airport Road, Palam Technical Area, India Gate C-Hexagon, Mandi House, Akbar Road roundabout, Delhi Gate, Rajghat, and the ITPO, where plants and decorative elements have been added for aesthetic appeal.

In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, various government departments in Delhi have placed a significant number of plants and pots across the city. The Delhi government's forest department and the Delhi Parks and Garden Society have set up 375,000 plants, while the Public Works Department (PWD) contributed 50,000, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) each provided 100,000, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) added 50,000 pots. Additionally, more potted flowering plants will be introduced in early September to ensure they are in full bloom during the G20 Summit. These efforts aim to beautify the city and create a pleasant atmosphere for the summit's delegates.

G20 Summit 2023 Life-Sized Cutouts Of Langur Monkeys

As part of the preparations, life-sized cutouts of langur monkeys have been strategically placed in various areas of New Delhi. This initiative aims to deter smaller rhesus monkeys from causing disruptions during the G20 summit scheduled for the next week. Rhesus monkeys have been a nuisance in many parts of the national capital, posing risks to motorists and pedestrians by darting across busy roads and occasionally displaying aggressive behavior towards unsuspecting residents.

G20 Summit 2023: City Gets New Colour And Metro Stations Get Makeover

Throughout the cityscape, enchanting paintings with captivating themes have been crafted on the walls. These artistic masterpieces tell a story of unity, featuring vibrant renditions of the G20 emblem, iconic landmarks, and intricate maps showcasing the diverse member nations.

The city's guardians have breathed new life into the metro station. The once-ordinary structure now stands as a beacon of aesthetic refinement, having received a makeover that includes a fresh, vibrant paint job adorning its buildings, pillars, boundary walls, and even the parking lots. But the metamorphosis doesn't stop there; the pavements have been lovingly restored to their former glory.

And just outside the Supreme Court metro station, a charming pedestrian plaza has emerged, adorned with tasteful landscaping that pleases the eye. This delightful oasis not only enhances the visual appeal but also offers a serene space for citizens to enjoy amid the hustle and bustle of the city.

Giant Thematic Logo

To celebrate India's G20 presidency, a municipal park in south Delhi, situated in Greater Kailash, has been adorned with a grand thematic logo representing the influential G20 group. Additionally, flags representing each member nation have been proudly displayed atop 20 ornamental pillars amidst the park's lush gardens. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the area's MLA, expressed the hope that the visiting heads of state and other delegates attending the G20 Summit in the coming month would fondly remember the warm reception offered by the city and its residents.

The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 and has prompted significant beautification efforts across the city. Numerous prominent roads and public areas have undergone thorough cleaning and enhancement in preparation for this major event, which will be hosted at the newly constructed international convention centre at Pragati Maidan.
