Global Agri Connect 2017 concluded in Delhi

Global Agri Connect 2017 was organized at Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi today.  GAC 2017 provided a platform to agriculture stakeholders to effectively adapt to climate change for developing guidance to accelerate climate adaptation. The resulting ideas of global knowledge to understand what works and what doesn't, is envisioned to be used by Institutions, communities and companies to successfully integrate climate adaptation into their investment decisions. In that way, every technology, every crop field is to be turned into opportunity to become more resilient.

GAC 2017 is bringing together international partners, including leading knowledge institutes, businesses, NGO's, local and national governments, international organizations and financial institution to leverage the prestigious and globally recognized platform to impress upon the stakeholders to showcase excellence, improve knowledge, catalyze action and influence policy on critical important themes of agricultural development.

The congregation was addressed by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Sahil Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director, PI Industries limited and Dr. Harsh Bhanwala, Chairman, National Bank for Agricultural And Rural Development (NABARD). The panel discussion was joined by Mr. Sagar Kaushik, Chief Operating Officer, United Phosphorous Ltd. (UPL) and Ms. Subha Shekar, Director-CSR & Sustainability, Coca Cola-India & South-West Asia. At the open floor for discussion which took place post lunch, the speakers were joined by Mr.  Ashish Bhardwaj, Head Corp Comm, CLAAS Agricultural Machinery, Dr. Basavaraj Girennavar, Managing Director, Criyagen and Dr. Soumita Das, Director, South Asia International Zinc Association. The panelists were also joined by Mr. Dilip Kulkarni, President, Jain Irrigation and Mr. Jatin Singh, Founder & CEO, Skymet Weather Services Pvt. Ltd.

Growth in Indian Agriculture is almost stagnant for more than a decade. In this backdrop, technologies & innovations are looked at as primary means to overcome the challenges and to ensure food security of the country and increasing the income of the farmers. Though India is the world’s largest producer of milk, pulses, and spices, and has the world’s largest cattle herd (cows and buffaloes), as well as the largest area under wheat, rice and cotton but India’s productivity is much lower than several developing and developed countries’ productivity. Global Agri Connect is a flagship programme of National Skills Foundation of India (NSFI) organized every year.
