"Best Fertile Land in Country is in Uttar Pradesh": Yogi Adityanath
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of UP, has invited several banking & financial sector leaders to become partners in the development of his state, which happens to be the country's most populous state. During his 2-day visit to Mumbai ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS), the CM met with these industry leaders.
While addressing the country's leading industrialists, representatives of financial, banking, and industrial institutions, businessmen, and investors in Mumbai, Yogi Adityanath urged them to contribute to realizing Prime Minister Modi's '$5 trillion economy' goal for India by investing in the state through which the path to prosperous self-reliance passes. UP Global Investors Summit will be held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from February 10 to 12, 2023.
The CM stated that the state with the most people in the country is working hard to fulfil this resolution because it has potential, vision, and enormous possibilities.
"When our government took office in 2017, the state's financial situation was dire. We made some plans and called the banks, but because the credit was so bad, the banks did not respond. Today, I am delighted to inform you that everything in UP has changed. We are now a revenue-surplus state. "We've more than doubled our annual budget," he told industry executives. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with SIDBI Chairman and MD S Raman, NABARD GM Smita Mohanty, National Stock Exchange MD and CEO Ashish Chauhan, and Kotak Mahindra CEO Kotak Mahindra.
"This was the first time after independence when the UP team visited 21 cities in 16 countries to invite investors and received tremendous response," he said, referring to the success of the UP roadshow held abroad in conjunction with GIS 23. We received investment proposals worth more than Rs seven lakh crores during the roadshows."
"Mumbai is the economic capital of the country, so I myself have come here to invite my near and dear ones," Yogi said of the ongoing roadshow in Mumbai for a dialogue with domestic investors. The large number of investors present at the roadshow is encouraging for 'Team UP.'"
He informed them about Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure development and improved connectivity via air, water, road, and rail networks, which he said will help industries access both global and domestic markets. Furthermore, speaking about his ambition to increase the size of Uttar Pradesh's GDP to USD one trillion in order to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of a USD five trillion economy, the Chief Minister stated that this can only be accomplished with their cooperation.
"I have come to inform you all today that we will provide you with all possible assistance in Uttar Pradesh. We will provide resources from all over the world, as well as a better environment. Banks should work with us to strengthen our MSME units, agriculture, FPOs, and start-ups," he added.
According to Yogi, Uttar Pradesh has the most fertile land. "We have 11% of the country's total agricultural land but we produce 20% of food grains. "If we all work together, we can produce more than 30% of the country's total foodgrain requirement," he added.
"I invite all of you in Uttar Pradesh to make the most of the enormous opportunities present in our state and become a partner with us in the journey of progressive transformation of Uttar Pradesh and towards making New India prosperous and powerful," he said in conclusion.
