Goa Government gives 80% Subsidy to Poultry Farmers

There is good news for the poultry farmers in Goa. Now the Goa Government has notified a modified scheme with higher assistance for poultry farmers. This was done in a bid to revive the once thriving poultry farming activities. For the very first time, a subsidy has been included that will cover the cost of infrastructure. Adding to it, the government has also provided 80 percent subsidy on some items as well.

There is good news for the poultry farmers in Goa. Now the Goa Government has notified a modified scheme with higher assistance for poultry farmers.  

This was done in a bid to revive the once thriving poultry farming activities. For the very first time, a subsidy has been included that will cover the cost of infrastructure. Adding to it, the government has also provided 80 percent subsidy on some items as well. 

As per the scheme, various patterns of assistance have been fixed across three categories- Broiler Farmers, Layer Farmers and low Input Technology (LIT) poultry birds. Maximum quantum of monthly financial assistance is Rs 56,000 for broiler farmers, Rs 48,000 for layer farmers and Rs 4,000 for LIT birds. 

For a 2,000 sq ft broiler farm, the shed will be subsidized to Rs 6 lakhs out of a total cost of Rs 8.5 lakhs. Whereas, for a 4,000 sq ft layer farm, the subsidy will be Rs 21 lakhs out of a total cost of Rs 28.7 lakhs and for LIT birds an area of 2,000 sq ft broiler farm, will get Rs 6 lakhs subsidy out of a total cost of Rs 8.5 lakhs. 

According to an official from the Animal Husbandry Department, “To boost farming, the subsidy has been hiked and even infrastructure assistance has been introduced.”
