Government removes ban on the export of tur, moong and urad dal

Central Government has removed the restrictions on the export of tur, urad and moong dal after a long period. At present, only organic pulses and kabuli chana are allowed to be shipped in a limited quantity. Experts opined that this will encourage the farmers to increase the sowing area in future and potentially open up greater investments in the sector. 

India had banned the export of pulses in 2006 and the traders had been demanding the removal of the ban for a year.  

The ruling retail price of tur dal is Rs 70-75 per kg in Delhi as compared to Rs 80-85 per kg in the previous year. However, country's pulses production has touched a record of 22.4 million ton in 2016-17 crop year (July-June) as against 16.35 million ton in the previous year.
