Government to Bring Reform Measures in Agriculture and Manufacturing Sectors: PHDCCI

The outburst of the Coronavirus pandemic has severely bruised many sectors of economy as some of them are operating with a pressure of working from home and the others are not even functioning. Reportedly, the government has started the process of identifying reforms in some major sectors of economy in order to make the economy more productive even in the tough time and help it overcome the impact of COVID-19 as soon as possible.  

According to a government official, “The process of identifying reforms in various sectors has started. We are talking of significant reforms across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and services. We are also looking at expenditure rationalization measures and how funds can be better utilized.” The government has been brainstorming with the top officials from across ministries and NITI Aayog regarding the reform measures suitable for the betterment of the country in the times of economic collapse.   

Rajesh Verma, Special Secretary, Department of Agriculture Corporation & Farmer Welfare, Government of India, informed that the government has taken pro-active and progressive steps to boost the morale of the agriculture sector, especially the farmers, and relieved them from the grip of the stress created due to Covid-19. 

The Special Secretary and his team, noted all the issues and challenges faced by the industry stakeholders and assured a quick and effective resolution of the same by the Ministry. He also mentioned that many reforms were underway and a solution to many of the issues will be provided by early next week, including clearance of a significant number of pending applications, said Verma.
