Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Wednesday that the Union Cabinet has approved a comprehensive outlay of Rs 3.70 lakh crore to benefit farmers through various schemes. The package aims to promote sustainable agriculture and improve the well-being and economic conditions of farmers.

During a press conference, Union Health Minister highlighted the key components of the approved package. One significant aspect is the Urea Subsidy Scheme, which ensures a consistent supply of urea to farmers at a fixed price of Rs 242/45 kg bag, excluding taxes and neem coating charges. The approved package allocates Rs 3,68,676.7 crore for urea subsidy over the next three years (2022-23 to 2024-25).

The cabinet also approved the implementation of the PM Programme for Restoration, Awareness Generation, Nourishment, and Amelioration of Mother Earth (PMPRANAM). This initiative aims to promote natural and organic farming, alternate fertilizers, and innovative solutions such as Nano Fertilizers and bio-Fertilizers to restore the fertility of agricultural land.

The program incentivizes states and union territories to adopt alternative fertilizers and promote the balanced use of chemical fertilizers. In addition, the Union Cabinet introduced Sulphur coated Urea (Urea Gold) in the country for the first time. This new type of urea is more cost-effective and efficient compared to the existing Neem coated urea.

Mandaviya also discussed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PMKSKs), announcing that they have reached a milestone of one lakh across the country. PMKSKs serve as one-stop centers for farmers, providing them with convenient access to various farm inputs and addressing their needs comprehensively.

These initiatives aim to empower farmers, ensure the availability of essential resources, and enhance the overall productivity and well-being of the agricultural sector in India.
