Govt. Scheme for fertilizers to be widened

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on fertilizer which is currently functioning in the 14 districts is likely to expand after govt. findings on the current  functioning of the scheme under the Aadhar-enabled Fertilizer Distribution Service  (AeFDS) is released. This scheme differs from the other running schemes of government in the terms that the subsidy is released to the fertilizer companies, rather than to the beneficiaries. The sale is made by the retailers to the beneficiaries after biometric authentication. Official data shows that in the 14 district from Telangana to Punjab,  9,334 retailers are on board and have sold 1.46 lakh mt of fertilizer in this month.
