Govt to Distribute 7.5 Kg Ration per Head amid Lockdown

The prevailing situation of pan-India lockdown has put many people in panicking situations. People are worried how they will be able to survive during the lockdown and how they will get the necessary items such as ration and vegetables. Taking into consideration the panic situation of people that has been created by the lockdown, Delhi government has taken a firm initiative to help its public in getting ration.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has recently announced that the government has initiated distribution of ration for the next month to help people be carefree about basic necessity like ration during the lockdown. In an addition to this, Sisodia also declared that the Delhi government will use its schools as night shelters for daily wage laborers and to those people who is in need of a shelter. Food and water will also be arranged for them during the lockdown situation, Sisodia further added.

Sisodia took the social media site twitter to disseminate the essential information about the distribution of ration. “The Delhi government has started distributing ration for the next month -- 7.5 kg per person, which means one-and-a-half times more than the normal need," Sisodia’s tweet read. 

A few days back, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made an announcement that those receiving ration from the fair-price shops would get 50 per cent extra for the next month. “We will feed 20 lakh migrants, no one will be allowed to stay hungry in the national capital: Delhi deputy CM”, tweeted Rajdeep Sardesai, a renowned broadcast journalist.

While stressing on the problems of migrant workers, Sisodia said, "100 buses of Delhi government and around 200 buses of Uttar Pradesh government have been arranged to take people from Delhi to their respective places in Uttar Pradesh."
