Navratri, one of the most revered Hindu festivals starts today (26 September) and will be celebrated for nine days across the country.  

Navratri is also known as Shardiya Navratri because it falls during the beginning of autumn (Sharad). It is worth mentioning that this time period, also known as Devi Paksha, is completely devoted to the feminine powers of Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati as well as the nine forms of Durga.
