Haryana Govt Launches Free Drone Pilot Training Program for Farmers and Youth; Apply Before Feb 19

In recent years, the agricultural sector has witnessed rapid technological development, with drones emerging as a pivotal tool for precision farming. The Haryana government has launched a program to provide free drone piloting instruction to the state's youth and farmers, marking a big step towards embracing technological improvements in agriculture. This program aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills to operate drones effectively, thus facilitating enhanced efficiency and productivity in agricultural practices.

To operate drones for agricultural purposes, individuals need to obtain a drone pilot certificate, which signifies their proficiency in handling these aerial vehicles. The eligibility criteria and process for obtaining this certification have been outlined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Qualifications Required for Drone Training as per DGCA

Typically, applicants must have at least completed their 10th to qualify for drone pilot certification. Additionally, individuals above the age of 18 are eligible to undergo training at DGCA-approved institutes to become certified drone pilots.

The Haryana government is offering free training exclusively to members of Cooperative Housing Societies/Farmer Producer Organizations (CHC/FPO) falling within the age group of 18 to 45 years. This initiative aims to democratize access to drone technology, particularly among those directly involved in agricultural activities.

Cost Considerations

While the usual fees for drone pilot training at DGCA-approved institutes range from approximately sixty-five thousand to one lakh rupees, the Haryana government's initiative eliminates this financial barrier for eligible participants. The free training program covers all expenses, including training materials and equipment.

Application Process

As the registration process for the second phase of free drone pilot training is currently underway, interested individuals are encouraged to apply before the deadline on 19th February. Applications can be submitted through the official website of the Haryana Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (https://agriharyana.gov.in/). For further inquiries, applicants can also contact the toll-free helpline at 1800-180-2117.

By providing accessible training opportunities and fostering the adoption of drone technology in agriculture, the Haryana government's initiative holds the potential to revolutionize farming practices and contribute to the state's agricultural growth trajectory.
