Healing Herbs 2023: MSME's Vital Role in Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Production Discussed at Workshop

AFC India Limited organized the first edition of "Healing Herbs 2023," an international workshop on the promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants at Silver Oak, India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

The chief guest of the program was Mercy Epao (Joint Secretary of MSME), who spoke on the role of MSMEs in the production of medicinal and aromatic plants.

The primary goal of this International Workshop on Pharmaceutical Promotion is to reflect on concerns of impediment in the MSME sector and mobilize new techniques on associated technology and enabling it in the future.

Mercy Epao praised the organisers of the event and explained how the importance of MSME is growing in the country, with MSMEs now accounting for 45% of our country's exports. MSME manufactures around 60 thousand products and employs more than 11 crore people in the country.

She informed enterprise registration, which allows any operator to identify their company as a micro, small, or medium firm (MSME). After registering under this, he will be eligible for numerous government benefits to help him grow his business.

Mercy Epao went on to discuss employment, skill development, upskilling, and reskilling. She stated that the Government of India runs numerous skill development programs, which today's young may take advantage of and use to launch various start-ups.

Dr. Arun Chandan, Director of the NMPB Regional Cum Facilitation Centre in Himachal Pradesh, spoke about the benefits and production of medical plants, as well as how the number of unicorns in our country has grown to 107 at the moment. Since then, there has been ongoing progress in our MSME sector, which will help to boost the country's economy in the next years.

Dr. RC Uniyal, Head (General Manager) of Emami Group, discussed the export and investment potential of medicinal and aromatic plants. He described how medicinal plants play an important part in the lives of rural people. These plants' therapeutic aspects have medicinal effects on the animal body.

NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand, Dr. Manoj Nesari, Co-Head, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change were present in this program.
