Heavy Rain Alert in Indian Coastline; Delhi-NCR Suffers Season’s Poorest Air Quality

The weather department of India has issued a heavy rainfall alert in “Coastline Areas” during the next 24 hours. “Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning with isolated heavy falls likely over south peninsular India during the next 24 hours. Conditions are becoming favorable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from most parts of central India and some more parts of West and East India during the next 24 hours”, says the Indian Meteorological Department.

On the other hand, the national capital including the NCR region witnessed the season’s poorest air quality and dry atmosphere due to stubble burning in its neighboring states Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

“Southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from entire Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh and some more parts of west Madhya Pradesh, entire Rajasthan and some parts of Saurashtra & Kutch and Gujarat region”, the morning bulletin added.

As per yesterday’s report, heavy rain along with thunderstorm lashed over many places including Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, North and South Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Lakshadweep, and Arunachal Pradesh.

On the other hand, few places over Kerala and at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch, Coastal & North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Assam & Meghalaya observed light shower along with the thunderstorm.

As per report, maximum temperature was recorded appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Coastal Karnataka; at isolated places over Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Konkan & Goa.

On the other hand, minimum temperatures were recorded above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over West Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, Jharkhand, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karikal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
