Heavy Rain Alert in Mumbai by IMD; These Areas to get most affected

With the monsoon being one of the most intense in the recent years some areas are facing the brunt of the rains like Assam. Mumbai has been one of those areas which get heavy rainfall even in a normal year and with excessive rains this year the Indian Meteorological Department has sounded an alert over the financial capital.

With the monsoon being one of the most intense in the recent years some areas are facing the brunt of the rains like Assam. Mumbai has been one of those areas which get heavy rainfall even in a normal year and with excessive rains this year the Indian Meteorological Department has sounded an alert over the financial capital.

According to IMD, several areas will receive heavy rainfall throughout the day. Deputy Director General of IMD Mumbai tweeted figures of rainfall of every area.

Bandra received 201mm while Mahalaxmi received 129 mm of rainfall respectively. The Mumbai suburbs around the Santacruz area received about 191.2 meanwhile areas in South Mumbai received  156.4 mm. Ram Mandir area received around 130mm rainfall.

Across the state Ratnagiri received 127.2 mm while Osmanabad recorder 25.8mm and Jalgaon district recorded 53mm rainfall.

Mumbai has seen the worst of rains in the recent years with the mega rains of 2005 which caused a loss of Rs. 5.50 billion. Mumbai had received around 944mm rainfall in a 24 hour span which was then the eighth highest rainfall ever recorded. 1094 people were killed and the city was shutdown for almost 2 days.
