Heavy Rain Alert in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry; Light Showers in Delhi-NCR Today
The Weather Department of India on Monday has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. On the other hand, thunderstorm/hailstorm accompanied by lightning is also likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi on 26th & 27th November. Dense fog is very likely to hover over Assam and Meghalaya during morning hours, said the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) in its latest forecast.

Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR pollution levels dropped further on Monday with the overall air quality index (AQI) read 262 at 10 am, on Monday. Moreover, the IMD has predicted generally cloudy sky in the national capital with light rain or drizzle for Monday. Moreover, more than five lakh liters of water were sprinkled at 13 pollution hotspots in Delhi over the past two days to hold down dust, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said on Sunday.
“The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 65°E to the north of Lat. 30°N. This is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains from 26th November. Under its influence, thunderstorm/hailstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places is likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi on 26th & 27th November”, said the weather department in its latest bulletin.
As per yesterday’s report, many places over Tamilnadu & Puducherry & Karaikal observed light shower along with thunderstorm at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe.
Maximum temperatures were reported appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Kerala & Mahe; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Jharkhand and Coastal Karnataka; at many places over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Assam & Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. On the other hand, minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°or more) at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Gujarat region; at many place over Punjab and Rajasthan; at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir.
