Heavy Rainfall Alert Issued for Himachal Pradesh & Southern Coastal; Delhi Air Quality to Get Worse

“The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over Iran & neighborhood between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from tonight”, said the weather department on its morning bulletin. Under its influence, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rain/snow very likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 21st & 22nd November and over Himachal Pradesh on 22nd November said Indian Meteorological Department. As per reports, a thunderstorm with lightning may be observed at isolated places over some parts of the southern peninsula during the next 2 days. 

The weather department also predicted a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 21st & 22nd November. Moreover, the met department issues scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 20th & 22nd November.  

On the other hand, Delhi air quality which observed a little improvement in the last few days again saw an increase in pollutants on Wednesday morning and went under the ‘very poor’ category. As per reports, it is likely to accelerate over the next 24 hours.  

The overall air quality index in Delhi stood at 350 at 8:30 am on Wednesday, which is still at the 'hazardous' category. Delhi University North Campus area, remained in the 'very poor' category with AQI of 301 while Ghaziabad remained in the most hazardous with AQI of 445. 

According to Skymet Weather, the air quality in Delhi NCR is likely to turn worse in the next two days. According to the experts, the western disturbance on the western side of the Himalayas is going to impact the flow of air in the Delhi-NCR region. Moreover, the air quality of Delhi was brought up in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. 

As per yesterday’s report, maximum temperatures were reported appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya.
