Indian Railways has announced to run special trains to clear the rush of passengers in view of Holi.

The Indian Railways is prepared for the upcoming festive season in India. To accommodate the rush of passengers during Holi 2023, the organisation has announced the operation of special trains on several routes.

It should be noted that Holi will be celebrated on March 8, 2023, and the railways expect an increase in the number of passengers during this period. The special trains announced by the railways will go through several states, cities, and railway zones.

Indian Railways operates these trains for the convenience of passengers traveling to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and other states, as well as to clear increased passenger traffic during the festival.

Holi Special Trains from Gorakhpur:

  • Gorakhpur to Amritsar Express Train No. 05005 and 05006. Gorakhpur departure on March 3 and 10 at 2:40 PM. Amritsar departure from March 4 and 11 at 12:45 PM.

  • Gorakhpur to Bandra Express Train No. 05053 and 05054. Gorakhpur departure on March 4 and 11 at 4:10 AM. Bandra departure on March 4 and 11 at 7:25 PM.

It should be emphasized that Indian Railways continues to be proactive in responding to the surge of people throughout the festival season, running special trains to free up routes. On particular routes, an increase in the number of passengers is often predicted during important holidays such as Holi and Diwali.

To help such initiatives, the Union Budget for this year contained an allocation for railways that would strengthen train connections across the country. The central government's greatest budgeted allocation for national transporters to date is 2.4 lakh crores for railroads.
