How to Apply for Passport at Nearest Post Office – Details Inside

Citizens of India now can apply for passport at their nearest post office. The Ministry of External Affairs has taken this new initiative to make the processor of applying for passport easier.

Passport is one of the official government documents that help its holder to plan his/her journey in different countries. It is also used as an important identity proof for the citizens. The Minister of External Affairs has issued a very important information regarding passport. 

Now citizens of India can apply for a passport at their nearest post office. Under this new initiative, it is compulsory for all the applicants to be present physically at the Passport Seva Kentra (PSK) with their application print receipt and required original documents.

Documents needed while applying for passport: 

1. Any Identity proof- Aadhaar card, Election voter ID or any valid photo ID card.

2. Proof of age- birth certificate, school leaving certificate etc.

3. Driving license, PAN card, Aadhaar card.

4. Address proof: electricity bill, water bill, gas connection, mobile bill.

5. Current bank passbook with photo.

6. Rent agreement (if it is applicable)

How to apply for passport at your nearest post office: 

Step 1: First visit the official website of Passport Seva- passportindia.gov.in. 

Step 2: Fill the passport application and submit it online. 

Step 3: Finally, Schedule an appointment to visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra. 

Step 4: After submission of online application, visit the nearby post office where you preferred to visit in your application along with application print receipt and original documents. 

Step 5: Upon the successful verification, the passport of the applicant will be issued within 7 to 14 working days. 

Applicant will have to visit Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra physically, it is mandatory.
