Due to the nationwide lockdown, Aadhaar updation and enrolment centres in India are closed. But for those who want to update or correct any details in their Aadhaar card like mobile number, email ID etc then there is an alternate way. Now you can go to the nearest Common Service Centre or CSC to update the details in your Aadhaar card. Aadhaar card is an important Identity Proof for every citizen (including farmers) in the country. Due to incorrect details in Aadhaar card many farmers are not able to take benefit of various government schemes.

As per latest reports, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has allowed the common service centres that operate as banking correspondents (BCs) to begin the Aadhaar updation facility. It must be noted that a CSC is a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of IT & Electronics for accessible electronic delivery of services including e-governance to people in rural India. In India, there are 20,000 common service centres that operate as banking correspondents (BCs).

Aadhaar card updation facility

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasadin a tweet said, "To make Aadhaar updation easier for people, the UIDAI has allowed CSCs which are designated banking correspondents of banks, to provide Aadhaar update services. About 20,000 such CSCs will now be able to give this service to citizens".

The government said that the UIDAI has also set a June deadline to begin the work after centres with banking facilities upgrade their required infrastructure & get other necessary approvals. Earlier these centres were permitted to process Aadhaar enrolment but it stopped after privacy & security-related issues came up in 2019.

The CSCs has given a big relief to people during the Covid-19 lockdown. With these 20,000 extra centers available to update Aadhaar card details, people particularly in rural areas didn't have to go to Aadhaar centres in bank branches or post offices for this work.
