ICAR celebrates National Mushroom Day
The ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hills Region, Manipur Centre at Imphal together with Agri-Business Incubation Centre celebrated the National Mushroom Day - 2018 at its campus. The programme registered a total footfall by over 50 mushroom growers from different parts of the state, ICAR scientists and representative from KVKs and NABARD.
The ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hills Region, Manipur Centre at Imphal together with Agri-Business Incubation Centre celebrated the National Mushroom Day - 2018 at its campus. The programme registered a total footfall by over 50 mushroom growers from different parts of the state, ICAR scientists and representative from KVKs and NABARD.
The theme for this year was “Mushroom in Vertical Farming”.
Chief Guest, Shri K. Kipgen, Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur praised ICAR’s efforts to organize such an important event in Manipur. He highlighted the Manipur State’s potential of growing mushroom. He emphasized on benefits of schemes of MIDH that can be availed by mushroom growers of the state.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. R. Ravi Babu, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, Manipur RO accentuated on the importance of mushroom in doubling up farmers’ income transforming their lives.
Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR, Manipur Centre accentuated on producing mushroom in an eco-friendly way and highlighted the technologies that have been developed and disseminated by ICAR in the designated field.
The event also held presentations by ICAR experts on mushroom production and processing.
During the valedictory function, the exhibitors M/s Leima Mushroom, Imphal East; M/s Hee Yai Mushroom, Imphal East and M/s Aapihang Food Processing Centre; Chandel were awarded first, second and third prize, respectively.
